The Preparation for "C" Party & Celebration for "Journey" Event Today

It’s the season again to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of our Heavenly Father. It’s parties and after that parties again since our pre-Christmas event (entitled the Journey) on the 8th of December at the Amici Bar n Restaurant, which I will be updating in this blog once I got all the photos required for a wonderful display of the ambience and memories for that night.

Today (20th December), being a holiday was meant to be a rest day. Yet, it turns up to be a busy day out as well.

First in the morning was the baking of Gingerbread Men at a sister-in-Christ, Siewmin’s home. These fearfully and wonderfully made Gingerbread Men aka cookies will be displayed in beautifully made wrappers as door-gifts for the up-coming “C” Party on 24 December 2007 at the sister’s place as well. It was my maiden trial and attempt making or baking cookies I supposed and first time I saw such a big built-in oven in a kitchen fixture. Excited and looking forward for the day to come.

Next in the afternoon was some walking around aka window-shopping with a brother-in-Christ, Ben (who joined earlier as well for the birth of these Gingerbread Men) at Vivo City for the items or outfits needed for the “C” Party. We need to be dressed in something that begins with “C” as the party name implies. Already had the idea on what to be on my heels to head since last week. Went to Vivo City last Tuesday (18 December 2007) with my best friend, Raymond to watch the movie “Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium” and saw the “head” item which I need at Daiso. However, there was a very long queue that day and turned up not getting it that day. I knew that I could actually rent the outfits with the “head” item at the Wearhouse of People Association which I saw on the same morning on 18 December 2007. This will cost me around $30.00 over. Hence, I think it may be more economical to buy the “head” item which cost me only $2.00 with the fact that I already have most items that will bring that Wild Wild West character alive in me on 24 December 2007. And thankfully, Mister Ben brought a camera today for that shot. What a nice picture that he took that I think it will be a pity if I didn’t show it here.

The third event of the day was just another party (I guess you can called it a party as there were enough people to make a party and most importantly there were FOOD!). It was supposedly a celebration for “Journey”, the pre-Christmas event (慶功宴). There was present from Jasmine as well and an affirmation card and event souvenir from Stefanie who coordinated the “Journey” event so well. Talking about affirmation, I think I should affirm Stefanie as well for her faithfulness and efforts made these past two years for our Unit Christmas mega-event which turned up to be successful despite many hiccups. Not forgetting Jasmine also, who for the past two years shared with us about the Birthday Star (壽星公), our Lord Jesus being her constant friend and companion last year and about Jesus who always stayed by her side in her journeys of life and studies this year.

Just in case, you are wondering what or who that "Wild Wild West" character is, a clue can be found in Jay Chou's (周杰倫) latest album. Best of all, hope to see you on 24 December 2007 for the "C" Party and you will know.

The Yearly Person
(Blog Entry dated 30 March 2007)

A year and 53 days had passed since I updated my last post. Hahaha... Now I'm 56 days passed 30 (in age, in case you wonder what. Anyway, when you see me in person, you will not believe I'm 30 as I dress more and more funky nowsadays to conceal my age. Hahaha..). Think I'm an yearly kind of person to post a blog article once a year. Not much time loh, what to do? Getting busier and busier nowsadays. With work, with studies and other commitments. Well, hope to update new stuffs and stories more often soon. Got to get back to WORK already...

A Hairy Story (Blog Entry dated 05 February 2006)

2nd February 2006 has passed 3 days since. Guess what was the occasion on that day? For those who access Friendster, it was no guessing game or surprise for you, I suppose. YES! It was my last birthday before the "tens" digit in my age goes into number "3". Those who understands Mathematics addition problems know what I meant right? Thought it will be great if my age can STOP here forever at that position just like Alam Tam (forever 25) though I may still age gracefully. Ever prayed that I will not have white hairs in my Poly Days and thank God that only till recently, only 1 strand of white hair was spotted by a friend (or rather a brother-in-Christ, Ben) on 1 January 06 and then was plucked out by a camp mate during my reservist on 4 January 06. (It was really very white and it looks weird on my head of all black hairs). Hope God can continue to ensure that I will not have white hairs growth in my head ever again. Haha... (also not ending up dropping ALL my black hairs though it did not grow white hairs as well). Talking about hair, mine is getting longer by the days, but what to do, I have money no enough to get it trim at my favorite hair saloon just below my office at Singapore Post Centre. In my photos of my Poly Days, I spotted long hairs and I really looked as though I was living in the 50s where long hair was a trend, (even for guys). Well, I don't think I look great in that; just hope to get it trim soon after I get my next wage. Saw one artiste in the TV programmes who spotted a goat-tee and decided to spot one as well. One strange phemonena is that I realised that some brown hairs grew besides the black ones. Are they weeds or what? Haha... Or maybe these are the genes of the brown hairs that remained in my hair roots when I once highlighted my hair brown? Wahaha... Okie for now, enough of hairy business. Retiring soon to bed (not from work of course).

Time Flies
(Entry dated 29 December 2005)

Oh my oh my, time really flies or perhaps zooms. Year 2005 is really coming to an end soon. Feel that the year ends extremely fast with nothing or not much things achieved or accomplished, and it's time for new resolutions without having good solutions for past year's problems and troubles. My greatest loss in the year was my beloved Granny who took good and great care of me for the past twenty over years of my life and my greatest failure was not being able to fulfill my promise to her that I will study hard and score well just before she left. I failed all my first year papers totally and as a result have to repeat all the subjects this year with an addition of one more new subject (total being 6 subjects) to take for year 2006's exam in May. I have to take a loan from a relative as well so that I can attend the classes. Looking forward for God to do a miracle in my results next year as I prepare real hard for them.

Lets Get The Blog Started! (Entry dated 1 November 2005)

Haha ... Finally, got this blog in Friendster started. Though I have one in Blogspot.com, but nobody seems to visit leh. (>,<) Anyway, I didn't write much lah. Haha ... Seems a bit unuser friendly in a sense that you have to remember the password before you can go inside the posting module to write something. Think since I will access Friendster more frequent, as well have one lah.

The 2007 Company Work-plan Retreat

Wow, what a great day to be away of office the whole day on 30 November 2007. This was one of the objectives written down on the flip chart of the Tembusu Room of the Costa Sand Resort in Sentosa, together with others like to have fun, to be spontaneous, bonding with one another and others which I have forgotten. Yes, it was the second day of the long awaited retreat of the year for work-plan for my company, the South East CDC. Indeed had a great time bonding with one another through various fun and interesting activities and also had a chance to be in the same group (group name: The Pirate King) with our new colleague, Yuchang and getting to know him a little bit more. Thank God for my “light weight”, I was physically carried by him and other ladies in our group across the 3D structure in one of the games. I like the second part of the activities in the afternoon where we got a chance to explore the great outdoors of Sentosa, However, it was a pity that we only managed to complete one game station out of three and did not managed to find all the places for the picture hunt. This was due to lack of time. Anyway, still enjoy the fun and bonding lah. One of my colleagues was asking me on our way back home about how I felt about the whole retreat and if it was better than last year in terms of venue, programs, etc. Well, to me it is the company (not as in the company I’m in, but the people I’m with) that matters more than anything that we do. The grand finale of the day was to sing the song “Nothing can stop us now!” together, and then finding the person who’s Certificate of Achievement we had been given earlier which we were supposed to pass it out to him/her. Well, I had got a privilege to exchange with a colleague for my so-called godmother in my workplace, Peggy’s certificate and passing it out to her.

The first day of the work-plan retreat was held at the Tapestry Room at the Bukit Batok Civil Service Club. The highlights of that day I supposed was the chance to ask our dear Mayor, Mr Matthias Yao a question (which he promised to give honest answers to everyone of us) and also the gallery walk by our various departments. I grabbed the opportunity to ask him a question about his possible career path or passion if he did not went into politics or became a Mayor. Still waiting for the answer as he promised to answer all the questions from all the staff via email within this few weeks and perhaps months (looking at the number of staff strength we have). One of the gallery walk was a Humty Dumpty Wall by my X-Team department, previously known as Projects department. The concept was that every brick on the wall (ideas, suggestions, thoughts, etc) counts towards saving Humty from falling off the wall. Thought that was interesting, though I didn’t help that department to save or prevent Humty from falling. Well, my suggestions, in fact two of them went to my Corporate department. These were mainly on issues of Knowledge Management which was one of our company’s priorities to improve. All my two cents worth came from the subject which I studied and managed to just pass for this year’s examination. It is Introduction to Business and Management (IBM). Interesting, the Balanced Score Card concept was shared briefly by my General Manager that day and my Deputy General Manager during our departmental retreat at the Costa Sand Resort on 23 November 2007. This was also one of the topics in IBM and also covered more in depth in another subject called Management Accounting which I almost passed for my examination this year and will be taking again next year. Well, guessed that’s how only some of my academic subjects can be applied in my company.

I will be looking forward for the year 2008 retreat, which God knows if I will still be around.

Singapore River Regatta 2007

We trained, we bonded, and we finished the race on 4th December 2007 in the Singapore River Regatta. Though we came in last but not the least, but at least we made it by 2.09.23. The timing we took to complete is better than last year as I heard from my coach, Jason. Well, we will get the shield (for 1st position) back, the one which was with us for the whole year of 2005. We won the race of year 2005 without much competition and difficulties, and not forgetting a bunch of strong supporters made up of our own staff and families.

Back to 2007, we are still proud of ourselves though, a team made up of three handsome looking men and seven gorgeous ladies of the South East District (and not forgetting a couple of our strong back-uppers who will be standing in tall for us in the team should the water in the river refuse our entry not matter what the reason), being able to complete the race competing with groups that consisted of mostly sturdy and tough looking men with purely brute strength and force.

It was worth the effort of our time being together training, rowing, moving boats, bonding, eating, bathing and catching up with one another in the Kallang Basin river, the Kallang Sea Sports Club and the hawker centre nearby for this ten over sessions of training.
We will yet again strive for the shield in Singapore Regatta 2008 with our new dragon boat work plan for 2008.

L...o...n...g... Time No Blog

For a long time I didn't managed to write anything on this blog. Not much people visit anyway. Only except for some creative people who tries to matchmake me in the comments section by giving me a link to the matchmake service somewhere out there in the world wide web. Thanks but no thanks, I am still secure though I am still single, by God's grace and His companionship of course. Hahaha... And not forgetting all my caregroup and unit people above.... You guys are a bunch of wonderful and beautiful people. God bless you guys.
